The socio-economic implications of CC in Armenia (10/04/2009)
The working meeting was organized in the framework of UNDP "Climate Change Impact Assessment" Project on April 10, 2009. The objective of the workshop is to present to the stakeholder parties the report on “The Socio-Economic Implications of Climate Change in Armenia” elaborated in the frames of the project to include stakeholders’ feedback and recommendations into the final version of the Report.
Most of the participants welcomed the Report as presenting the first comprehensive study of CC socio-economic implications in Armenia and mentioned importance of the report in the planning and behavior change process. However, they stressed necessity of clarifications and amendments before presenting the results and recommendations to decision makers. The Workshop participants agreed that the Report must be amended with special attention on:
1. Methodology disclosed and specified precisely, and alternative (in addition to official) data identified and used,
2. Adaptation measures distributed into two periods: the nearest 30 years and longer term,
3. Adaptation measures ranged by strategic priorities and identified as no-regret, low-regret, win-win etc.,
4. Experts to submit written notes on relevant sections of the Report within 10 days.
