Presentation of the Results and Recommendations of Armenia’s Second National Communication on Climate Change in the Regions of Armenia (05/2011)
Armenia’s Second National Communication (SNC) on Climate Change was presented in Gegharkunik, Kotayk, Tavush and Vayots Dzor regions. The presentation took place at the Marz Administration Offices in May, 2011. The events were aimed at sharing the results of the SNC with the administrative bodies and communities of Gegharkunik, Kotayk, Tavush and Vayots Dzor regions and discussing climate change vulnerability and adaptation issues on the marz-level.
The events were attended by representatives of Marz Administration Offices, Municipalities, Agricultural Support Marz Centres, Environmental Inspectorate, Emergency Situations Services, Hydro-meteorological Services of the Marz, national parks and botanical gardens, universities, NGOs, Aarhus Centres, farmers, and others. The seminars were also elucidated by local TV channels and print media.
The presentations proceeded according to the established agenda and were followed by a Q/A session and discussion. The Aarhus Centres in the regions supported the organization of the events, and will continue playing a key role in the future in holding dialogues with and among community people and administrative bodies in the regions for identification and formulation of climate change adaptation needs and communicating them to UNDP for consideration in the frames of the Third National Communication on Climate Change.
