

































Workshop on “Forest Pest Control and Forest Monitoring”
The workshop on “Forest Pest Control and Forest Monitoring”” took place on 18 November 2010 in the American University of Armenia (AUA). The workshop aimed at presentation of the results of the “Analysis of forest pests and pestholes exacerbated by climate change and climate variability in Syunik Marz of Armenia and identification of the most applicable prevention measures for improving forest health management practices” accomplished by Acopian Center for the Environment of AUA in the scope of the “Adaptation to Climate Change Impacts in Mountain Forest Ecosystems of Armenia” UNDP/GEF Project. The results of the analyses and tasks related to “Pest outbreaks in Syunik vs. climate change”, “Selection of the best applicable methods for forest pest monitoring”, “Bird species for monitoring the forest health and butterfly species for monitoring the climate change impacts”, and “”Best applicable and environmental friendly forest pest control methods” were brought to the attention of the participants. The seminar participants discussed the presented materials and recommendation, and expressed their comments, suggestions. The participants shown much attention was drawn to the results related forest health and climate change bio-indicators as well as forest pest control methods. The Acopian Center for the Environment of AUA will finalise the reports based on the comments and suggestions made by participants.
