UNDP Armenia organized a seminar on “Assessment of the RA Water Resources Vulnerability to Climate Change” in UN Armenia Conference Hall on July 18, 2008. The seminar was organized in the framework of “Enabling Activities for the Preparation of Armenia’s Second National Communication to the UNFCCC” and “Climate Change Impact Assessment” projects.
Within the seminar, draft report on “Assessment of the RA Water Resources Vulnerability to Climate Change” was presented; its methodology, result and recommendations were discussed actively. The issue is topical as assessment of water resources vulnerability to Climate Change and implementation of adaptation measures are important for further development of Armenia’s economy and improvement of her population’s live standards.
Representatives of the RA Ministry of Nature Protection, other stakeholder national authorities, international organizations, scientific research institutions and private sector, as well as Experts of the UNDP relevant projects took part in the event.
Within the seminar, UNECE questionnaire on CC impact on water resources and adaptation measures planned or implemented was discussed that served as a basis for the draft Guidance on water and adaptation to CC (see here).
