The Ministry of Nature Protection and the UN Development Program in Armenia in the frames of the "Enabling Activities for the Preparation of Armenia's Second National Communication to the UNFCCC" UNDP/GEF Project organized the Presentation and Discussion of Armenia's Second National Communication to the UNFCCC (February 05, 2010). More than 100 stakeholders, including state, educational, international and non-governmental organizations, as well as national experts attended the event. Welcoming remarks were made by the Minister of Nature Protection of Armenia, Mr. Aram Harutyunyan, the UNDP Resident Representative, Ms. Dafina Gercheva, and the Head of the OSCE Office in Yerevan, Sergey Kapinos.
The participants welcomed the Second National Communication as an essential tool for assessing climate change projections, impacts, mitigation and adaptation opportunities. At the same time they emphasized the need for making certain clarifications and editions in the draft document. In the end, the stakeholders were proposed to submit written suggestions and recommendations by February 20, 2010 for making relevant amendments in Armenia's Second National Communication. Based on these recommendations, the Communication will be amended, finalized, and later submitted to the Conference of Parties.
