Improving EE in multi-apartment buildings: a training-seminar (26-27/07/2012)

An educational seminar on maintenance and management of multi-apartment buildings, improving energy efficiency of buildings and application of renewable energy sources took place on July 26 to 27, 2012 in "Aghveran" hotel of Arzakan. The workshop was organized within the framework of the “Capacity development of Armenian NGOs for promoting sustainable housing maintenance/refurbishment practices in Armenia" project.

The goal of the workshop was to familiarize the participants with international practice on financing of energy efficiency refurbishment of buildings, existing models of homeowners associations,  public-private partnership models in the housing sector, solutions aimed at increasing energy efficiency of buildings, application of renewable energy sources in buildings, five-year strategic program aimed at improvement of management, maintenance and operation of the multi-apartment housing stock in the RoA, supervision of Yerevan Municipality over implementation of budgets and mandatory norms of maintenance of common shared property in multi-apartment buildings, as well as other topics.

The seminar was conducted by the experts from the Housing and Urban Development Studies Institute (IHS, Netherlands) - Ellen Geurts and Carley Pennink, as well as local trainers: Artur Yedigaryan and Robert Kharazyan.

The experts of the "Improving Energy Efficiency in Buildings" UNDP-GEF/00059937 Project Tigran Sekoyan, Apres Nazaryan, Arthur Tsughunyan and Vahram Jalalyan presented the activities carried out in the demo buildings within the framework of the project, the description of envisioned measures for energy efficient renovation of existing building and relevant technical and economic calculations, as well as the proposed methodology for energy expertise and energy passports of the buildings.
