Regional Climate Change Impacts Study for the South Caucasus Region (2011)

This report represents a study on the impacts of climate change and adap­tation in the South Caucasus involving all three countries in the region - Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia. The study has considered four areas for investigation: recent historical and projected climate change; impacts of climate change on transboundary river basins; impacts of climate change on crop water and irrigation requirements in critical agricultural areas; and the effect of climate change on urban heat stress in selected cities in the region.
The report is published within the scope of the “Environment and Security” Initiative by the UNDP/OSCE regional project.

Tourist Oriented Brochure on “Armenia – Syunik Forests and Sustainable Tourism” (2010)

The brochure highlights rich forest biodiversity of Armenia’s Syunik region, tourism and eco-tourism opportunities, human and climate change induced threats to forests, sustainable tourism rules, as well as contains a number of photos presenting Syunik specific flora and fauna species. The brochure is developed in the scope of the “Adaptation to Climate Change Impacts in Mountain Forest Ecosystems of Armenia” UNDP/GEF/00051202 project.

Assessment of Heat Supply in Multi-Apartment Blocks in Armenia: Analytic Report on Sample Household Survey (2010)

The report is developed “Economic Development and Research Center” NGO and includes two statistical sample surveys and analysis on current practices of heating options in multi-apartment residential buildings in urban areas of Armenia, as well as on improvement potential, and current developments in the field of heat supply.

Armenia’s Second National Greenhouse Gas Inventory (2010)

This report has been completed in the frames of the "Preparation of Armenia’s Second National Communication to the UNFCCC" UNDP/GEF Project. The GHG Inventory database is completed in MS Excel worksheets, recommended by IPCC, and includes all six sectors: "Energy", "Industrial processes", "Solvent use", "Agriculture", "Land use, land-use change and forestry (LULUCF)", and "Waste".
The UNDP/GEF Project invites comments from all local experts and interested national stakeholders on the inventory data. In case of data inaccuracies, please, forward your recommendations to climate@nature.am. The GHG inventory database can be accessed and reviewed by clicking here .

RENEWABLE ENERGY USE IN THE WORLD AND IN ARMENIA: INNOVATIONS TOWARDS CLEAN TECHNOLOGIES (2009)

The brochure discusses issues on renewable energy: solar, wind, biomass and geothermal energy, their available resources, the most modern technologies and their application, market development perspectives, regulatory mechanisms, in the context of climate change mitigation. Since there has been significant progress in development of small hydropower plants in Armenia recently, it was considered reasonable to present these issues in a special brochure. The brochure can be used by students, lecturers, engineers as well as by a large group of readers interested in the advancement of renewable and alternative energy technologies and their possible application in Armenia.

The Socio-Economic Impact of Climate Change in the Republic of Armenia (2009)

This publication supported by UNDP and developed by Stockholm Environmental Institute (USA) provides economic analysis and recommendations for decision makers in Armenia that need to manage the impacts of climate change by minimizing negative impacts and maximizing adaptation opportunities. It aims at supporting the national dialogue on the socio-economic implications of climate change and provides a policy option for adaptation at the country level. It particularly focuses on priority sectors for adaptation, namely water, agriculture, energy and forests, which are subject to the anticipated impacts.

Vulnerability of Water Resources in the Republic of Armenia under Climate Change (2009)

This report aims to highlight the vulnerability of water resources of Armenia to climate change and possible economic consequences and includes compilation of studies developed within the framework of "Enabling Activities for the Preparation of Armenia's Second National Communication to the UNFCCC" project implemented by UNDP Armenia and executed by the Ministry of Nature Protection of the Republic of Armenia.

Armenia: Lusadzor Village
Climate Change Impact Assessment (2009)

This publication reports on a pilot climate proofing exercise on community level project in Armenia. This exercise resulted into the comprehensive guidelines for the practical use by UNDP country office. The report proposes adaptation measures for Lusadzor village to be undertaken by projects engaged in community development to account for climate change risks. The report also highlights opportunities for adaptive capacity development for all forthcoming relevant pilots.

IUCN Red List Species of Invertebrate Animals in the Fauna of Armenia (2007)

The brochure dedicated to description of those invertebrate species found in Armenia which are protected on a global level and are included in the IUNC Red List of Threatened Species. Besides, the brochure includes the species being one of the symbols of Armenia's nature and history - endemic Ararat cochineal.

ARMENIA - CLIMATE CHANGE PROBLEMS
Collected articles, 2nd issue (2003)

The collection includes scientific articles by researchers who participated in the "Armenia - Country Study on Climate Change" Project (Phase II) and independent researchers who are involved in the study of climate change issues. The articles are focused on the use of energy efficient technologies, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in various sectors of economy, mitigation of adverse consequences of climate change and activities aimed at enhancing public awareness. The brochure provides an overview of renewable energy projects implemented in Armenia within the last five years. In particular, the brochure incorporates information on technical parameters of the projects, feasibility studies, types of projects financing as well as volumes of replaced fuel and avoided emissions of greenhouse gases.
