The Lessons Learned Report (2012) was prepared in order to capture the experiences gained and observations made during implementation of "Improving Energy Efficiency of Municipal Heating and Hot Water Supply" UNDP-GEF project. The Report summarizes the achievements of the Project and formulates key recommendations concerning the future development of energy efficient heat supply market in Armenia. |

Rapid assessment and gap analysis in the energy sector of Armenia (2012) As non-Annex I country to the UNFCCC, Armenia has announced its decision to take voluntary mitigation measures for limitation of GHG emissions within the frames of the corresponding mechanism of the Convention. |

Calculation of Grid Emission Factor for the Electricity System of the Republic of Armenia for the Year 2011 Following the request of the Ministry of Nature Protection of RA, the group of UNDP experts performed calculation of grid emission factor for the Armenian electricity system for the year 2011 in accordance with the appropriate methodology approved by the CDM Executive Board. Building Wildfire Management Capacities to Enhance Adaptation of the Vulnerable Mountain Forests of Armenia - Lessons from Recent Experience
This e-publication captures an analysis of the success factors and barriers of the approaches towards building the wildfire management capacities in Armenia. By providing illustrative examples of improving wildfire management, the publication aims to enable replication of these adaptation options, which in the Armenian context were found to be especially successful in increasing preparedness in the forest and protected area sectors to include climate change risks into forest management planning and practice. |

Regional Climate Change Impacts Study for the South Caucasus Region (2011) This report represents a study on the impacts of climate change and adaptation in the South Caucasus involving all three countries in the region - Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia. The study has considered four areas for investigation: recent historical and projected climate change; impacts of climate change on transboundary river basins; impacts of climate change on crop water and irrigation requirements in critical agricultural areas; and the effect of climate change on urban heat stress in selected cities in the region. Armenia’s Second National Greenhouse Gas Inventory (2010) This report has been completed in the frames of the "Preparation of Armenia’s Second National Communication to the UNFCCC" UNDP/GEF Project. The GHG Inventory database is completed in MS Excel worksheets, recommended by IPCC, and includes all six sectors: "Energy", "Industrial processes", "Solvent use", "Agriculture", "Land use, land-use change and forestry (LULUCF)", and "Waste". |
| ASSESSMENT OF GHG EMISSIONS MITIGATION POTENTIAL IN ANIMAL FARMING SECTOR OF THE REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA (2010) This report aims at assessing the potential for GHG emission reduction from the animal farming in Armenia. It covers the following: (i) agricultural waste resources, using information available in the public sources, a database of large and medium animal and poultry farms operating on the territory of Armenia; (ii) potential options for implementation of CDM projects based on collected data; (iii) information on site-visits to the operating farms: justification of the selection of most promising projects, collected data based on questionnaires; (iv) preliminary assessment of identified perspective projects; (v) three CDM Project Identification Notes (PINs) for selected projects. RENEWABLE ENERGY USE IN THE WORLD AND IN ARMENIA: INNOVATIONS TOWARDS CLEAN TECHNOLOGIES (2009) The brochure discusses issues on renewable energy: solar, wind, biomass and geothermal energy, their available resources, the most modern technologies and their application, market development perspectives, regulatory mechanisms, in the context of climate change mitigation. Since there has been significant progress in development of small hydropower plants in Armenia recently, it was considered reasonable to present these issues in a special brochure. The brochure can be used by students, lecturers, engineers as well as by a large group of readers interested in the advancement of renewable and alternative energy technologies and their possible application in Armenia. | Complex Assessment of Climate Change Impact on Water Resources in Marmarik River Basin, Republic of Armenia (2009) Taking into account the water resources vulnerability in Armenia, the objective of the current task is to focus on Marmarik river catchment basin in Armenia to assess water resources vulnerability and to substantiate the proposed adaptation measures via an economic assessment. This pilot study has been implemented within the UNDP/GEF "Enabling Activities for the Preparation of Armenia's Second National Communication to UNFCCC" to produce a complex assessment of climate change impacts on water resources of Marmarik River Basin of Armenia. Armenia: Lusadzor Village This publication reports on a pilot climate proofing exercise on community level project in Armenia. This exercise resulted into the comprehensive guidelines for the practical use by UNDP country office. The report proposes adaptation measures for Lusadzor village to be undertaken by projects engaged in community development to account for climate change risks. The report also highlights opportunities for adaptive capacity development for all forthcoming relevant pilots. |

MUST BE CONSERVED The brochure dedicated to description of those invertebrate species found in Armenia which are protected on a global level and are included in the IUNC Red List of Threatened Species. Besides, the brochure includes the species being one of the symbols of Armenia's nature and history - endemic Ararat cochineal. |

HOW DO WE UNDERSTAND CLIMATE CHANGE? The book was translated into Armenian and supplemented with information relating to Armenia within the framework of the "Implementation of the Article 6 of the Framework Convention on Climate Change in Armenia" UNEP/Armenia Project. The UN Framework Convention adopted in 1992 is the agreement that joins efforts of the countries to mitigate the consequences of climate change. The Kyoto Protocol elaborates on the principles of the UNFCCC, adding more complex and specific obligations. |

Special emphasis is made on the clauses and mechanisms of implementation of the Kyoto Protocol. |

| FIRST NATIONAL COMMUNICATION OF ARMENIA UNDER THE UNFCCC (1998)
The Communication includes climate change forecasts in Armenia, its effect on the Armenian economy, natural ecosystems, water resources (especially the water balance of Lake Sevan) and human health. The First GHG Inventory is based on the detailed inventory of greenhouse gas emissions and sinks. The Communication illustrates the political approach of the Republic of Armenia with regard to its degree of participation in implementing the goals of the UNFCCC. |
