Second National Communication - Local News
Armenia’s Second National Communication (SNC) on Climate Change was presented in Gegharkunik, Kotayk, Tavush and Vayots Dzor regions. The presentation took place at the Marz Administration Offices in May, 2011. The events were aimed at sharing the results of the SNC with the administrative bodies and communities of Gegharkunik, Kotayk, Tavush and Vayots Dzor regions and discussing climate change vulnerability and adaptation issues on the marz-level.
On 22 April, 2011 Armenia’s Second National Communication (SNC) on Climate Change was presented at the meeting of the RA National Council on Sustainable Development headed by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia – Mr. Tigran Sargsyan.
“Nubarashen Landfill Gas Capture and Power Generation Project in Yerevan” Project (registered on November 28, 2005) has developed Monitoring Report on CER Issuance, which has undergone the Verification phase. Currently, the Project requested CDM Executive Board to issue CERs.
Engineering department of American University of Armenia (AUA) invited Ms. Diana Harutyunyan, Climate Change Program Coordinator, UNDP Armenia, to deliver a lecture on Carbon Financing for Promotion of Energy Efficiency. The lecture was held in AUA on March 7, 2011.
Presentation of the extended English version of the “Renewable Energy Use in the World and in Armenia:. Innovations towards Clean Technologies” Bօօk took place on February 24, 2011 in the Chair of “Semiconductor Physics and Microelectronics” of Radiophysics Faculty of the Yerevan State University.
On December 2, 2010 a seminar was held for the teachers of natural sciences of schools in Yerevan devoted to ozone layer depletion issues. The seminar was organized in coordination with the “Association for Sustainable Human Development (ASHD)”and the Education Department of the Yerevan City Hall. The seminar was attended by 27 school teachers of Yerevan.
“Renewable Energy Use in the World and in Armenia: Innovations towards Clean Technologies” brochure was presented to the 17th Scientific and Methodological Conference of Physics Teachers held on October 30, 2010. The Conference was devoted to the 45th anniversary of establishment of the Physico-Mathematical Special School named after Artashes Shahinyan, adjunct to the Yerevan State University.
The "Enabling Activities for the Preparation of Armenia's Second National Communication to the UNFCCC" UNDP/GEF Project together with the "Armenian State Hydrometeorological and Monitoring Service" SNCO organized a seminar on "Climate change and atmospheric air pollution issues: intervention approaches in Germany and Armenia" on 14 July, 2010. It was attended by representatives from state organizations, educational institutions, international and local non-governmental organizations, as well as by representatives from the Embassy of Germany in Armenia. ...
In October 2009, the Ministry of Nature Protection of RA (MoNP) acting as the Designated National Authority for Clean Development Mechanism (CDM DNA) in Armenia approached the UNDP Armenia with request to assist the Ministry in calculating CO2 emission factor for the electricity system of RA....
The "Global Water Partnership" with support of UNDP/GEF "Enabling Activities for the Preparation of Armenia's Second National Communication to the UNFCCC" Project organized a round table on "Climate Change Impact on Water Resources" on June 25, 2010. ...
