On April 29th, "Improving Energy Efficiency in Buildings" UNDP-GEF Project participated in the round-table discussion organized by the Residential Energy Efficiency for Low Income Households (REELIH) Project implemented by Habitat for Humanity Armenia.
On April 25th, "Improving Energy Efficiency in Buildings" UNDP-GEF Project participated in the communication workshop on sustainable energy in the Republic of Armenia organized by INOGATE Technical Secretariat.
Aiming to promote energy efficient construction in Armenia, UNDP-GEF “Improving Energy Efficiency in Buildings” project has been partnering with “Shincertificate” LLC with the goal to improve the existing system of testing and certification of construction insulation materials.
One of the results of the collaboration is the opening of the laboratory for testing thermal-physical parameters of construction materials which took place in “Shincertificate” LLC premises on March 29th. UNDP-GEF project assisted in procurement of state of art laboratory equipment with the total value of 7 million AMD, while the company co-financed renovation and furnishing of the laboratory. The laboratory will test and certify insulation materials, providing opportunity for the specialists to use reliable, tested and certified materials and prefabricates.
"Construction Climatology" AST II-7.01-2011 replaces AST II-7.01-96 and sets climate indicators and parameters related to municipal heating, cooling, ventilation, atmospheric moisture capacity, precipitation and wind that are used in urban development and design concepts.

The opening of the energy efficiency laboratory at Yerevan State University of Architecture and Construction (YSUAC) took place on March 26, 2013. The laboratory was founded in the scope of the “Improving Energy Efficiency in Buildings” UNDP-GEF/00059937 project. The laboratory is equipped with modern measuring equipment and devices, enabling practical and on the job training of students on assessing buildings’ energy performance and energy efficiency.
The official opening of the residential building constructed in the framework of the “Social Housing With Availability of Supporting Conditions Goris-2” Project took place in Goris on December 18th, 2012. The opening ceremony was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Territorial Administration Armen Gevorgyan, Syunik Region Governor Suren Khachatryan, Mayor of Goris town Nelson Voskanyan.......
On November 28th, 2012, over 20 students and practitioners in architecture and engineering received certificates for the completion of a one-week course on Solar Architecture organized by the UNDP/GEF "Improving Energy Efficiency in Buildings" Project in partnership with the American University of Armenia (AUA).
The media competition announced by the "Improving Energy Efficiency in Buildings" UNDP-GEF Project in the framework of the United Nations “Sustainable Energy For All” initiative was finalized during the media awards event on November 28th, 2012.

Energy passports were compiled for and energy performance categories were assigned to the multi-apartment pilot (demonstration) buildings in Akhuryan community (0.5MB.pdf) and Goris town (0.6MB.pdf) to demonstrate energy saving potential in practice.
To assess energy saving indicators and thermal-technical performance, an energy audit (study) was conducted in the building #2 located in “Mush-2” district of Gyumri city (3.4MB.pdf).
In the frames of «Improving Energy Efficiency in Buildings» UNDP-GEF project, Concept on Legal and Institutional Developments was elaborated that proposes measures to ensure enforcement of energy efficiency approaches in urban development sector (in Armenian). The Concept is based on analyses of regulatory requirements to improve energy efficiency in the field of urban development.
