Project Objective:

The project is intended to reduce methane emissions from valves installed at gas pressure reduction stations as well as from stand alone valves installed in gas distribution network of the Republic of Armenia.

Project Description:

As part of the project, all gas regulator stations will be inspected for leaks from all standardized components (valves) with stem packing. Any leaks will be detected using catalytic oxidation/thermal conductivity detectors as well as measures, recorded and repaired using Gore-Tex joint sealant. The valves with stem packing will be repaired regardless whether leaks are detected or not.

All valves with stem packing located at medium and low pressure gas pipe lines of gas distribution system operated by ArmRusgasprom CJSC are included in project boundary. The distribution system covers about 9688 km of pipelines, including components at 0.3 MPa and 0.003 MPa and low pressure pipes to final residential consumers. There are in total 2295 sites (regulatory stations) which contain 15286 valves with stem packing which will be replaced with modern sealant.
