International Year of Forests – 2011
UNDP Armenia and REC Caucasus Armenia Branch Office organized an event dedicated to the International Year of Forests – 2011, which was held on March 21st, 2011 at UN Conference Hall.
The United Nations General Assembly has declared the year of 2011 as an International Year of Forests to raise awareness on sustainable management, conservation and sustainable development of forests.
The event aimed at presentations on implementation and outputs of the UNDP/GEF project on «Adaptation to Climate Change Impacts in Mountain Forest Ecosystems of Armenia» funded by Global Environmental Facility as a global pilot and the EU funded regional project on «Fostering community forest policy and practice in mountain regions of the Caucasus» implemented by REC Caucasus and discussion on the forest sector related issues
Representatives of governmental stakeholders, environmental NGOs, EU Delegation to Armenia, German Embassy and other international organisations were present at the event.
