The conference on "Capacity Building for Reduction of Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Kyoto Protocol Clean Development Mechanism: Main Outputs and Conclusions" was organized by the Ministry of Nature Protection of the Republic of Armenia in cooperation with UNDP/GEF "Enabling activities for preparation of Armenia's second national communication to the UNFCCC" Project and the Armenian office of the EC "Technical Assistance to Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Moldova with respect to their Global Climate Change Commitments" regional project on October 20, 2006.
The overall purpose of the conference was to introduce the results of capacity building for the Kyoto Protocol Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), the current status of CDM projects, as well as the possible approaches for reduction of GHG emissions in the region.
The event also served as a conclusive workshop on the EC/TACIS Project, where the project's main outcomes were summarized and reported.
The seminar hosted more than forty representatives from key ministries and agencies, international and local organizations, NGOs and educational institutions.
