The Opening Ceremony of Nubarashen Landfill Gas Capture CDM Project in Yerevan
The Opening Ceremony of the Nubarashen Landfill Gas Capture Project,
the first project under the Clean Development Mechanism hosted by the
Republic of Armenia, took place on October 13, 2009.
The event was jointly organized by project participants i.e. the
Municipality of Yerevan and Shimizu Corporation and attended by more
then 30 guests from ministries, agencies, municipalities, communities
and mass media.
Mr. Gagik Beglaryan, the Mayor of Yerevan, welcomed all participants
and thanked project developers and constructors for realization of the
project. He stressed the importance of introduction of landfill gas
capture and flaring technology in terms of improvement of environmental
and sanitary situation at the landfill and expressed hope that the
project will become a success story to be replicated in the rest cities
of Armenia.
