Sustainable development of energy sector of Armenia as a country without fossil energy resources should be based on extended use of efficient technologies either in traditional or alternative energy field.

As international experience shows, modern technologies in energy sector, especially in the field of the renewable energy and clean energy technologies, need specifically tailored state strategies and programs within the certain policy and proper regulatory framework. Creation of a beneficial environment encourages investments and considerably facilitates the process of implementation of emerging technologies and their replication.

Continuous post-crisis development brought to the necessity of utilization of an appropriate regulation for development of renewable energy. As the experience of last years shows, however, the policy for development of renewables in Armenia is still experiencing uncertainty, on one hand, conditioned by a tendency to employ a market economy principles, and on the other hand, the regulatory mechanisms still need to be improved. Actually, these mechanisms are mostly responsible for development of renewable energy sphere.

Goals and objectives of the Conference are to:

  • Present state of the art with renewable energy development in Armenia
  • Foster information exchange between different field actors and consolidate previously gained experience in renewable energy field
  • Initiate an open professional discussion between field actors and public authorities concerning the regulatory and legislative framework
  • Present new technologies, success stories and negative experience
  • Foster interaction between public organizations, governmental, scientific, engineering, investors, holders, and producers
  • Increase transparency of activities of the ongoing local and international assistance programs in the field of renewable energy
  • Configure recommendations for those who pursue implementation of renewable energy projects in Armenia

Immediate applicability of results of the Conference

Tending to create collaborative environment among all field actors and parties, participants of the Conference will exchange their experience and standpoints to establish closer partnership and further cooperation between colleagues and organizations.

Conference output

Materials of the event including proceedings, presented papers and recommendations will be printed as a separate book in coming 1-2 months after the conference and will be disseminated among the field actors and interested auditorium in Armenia and outside.
