ArmenPress - February 13, 2003 YEREVAN-Armenian experts from the Ministry of Nature Protection, officials from the UNDP Armenia office and representatives of non-governmental organizations have jointly discussed today a program for evaluation of needs of Armenian national capacities for global nature protection management. This program, funded by the Global Ecological Fund aims to help Armenia's involvement in the implementation of international nature protection conventions and secure the country's full integration into international processes. The program encompasses such areas as climate changes, the main problems in fighting desertification and protection of biological diversity. It also includes a set of measures aiming to reduce the amount of pollutant emissions of motor transport. Building new green areas, a comprehensive set of measures to protect urban-industrial environment as well as installation of modern devices for reducing dust fall. The program also provides for instillation of a modern system for collection of industrial and consumer wastage and their burial.
