WB “Natural Resources Management and Poverty Reduction” PIU

Close cooperation was established with the state forests management component of the World Bank Project, which is currently developing a new forest strategy and forest management principles. A MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) was signed aimed at information sharing on projects interim outcomes and organization of joint discussions.

BioEcoMed NGO

A good basis for scientific cooperation and partnership was established with “BioEcoMed” NGO. The Project supported the NGO in organization of the seminar “Towards the International Scientific Collabora­tion”. A package was developed including training materials for promoting cooperation between scientific institutions and funding sources. The NCSA project awarded one prize to a young scientist – participant of the seminar for the best environmental report.
In the framework of the cooperation with the British Council/Armenia, OSCE, BioEcoMed, United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization a workshop on “Access to Information and Knowledge as an Effective Way of the Sustainable Development” was organized on May 18-19, 2004.

Institute of Energy and USAID funded project

To identify national capacity for development of renewable energy a partnership consortium agreement with Institute of Energy and USAID funded project was signed for organization of an  international conference - “Renewable Energy: Reality and Perspectives”.

SolarEn LLC, Armenia Tree Project (ATP), Alliance to Save Energy and Ministry of Education and Science

An agreement was signed between the Project and SolarEn LLC, Armenia Tree Project (ATP), Alliance to Save Energy and Ministry of Education and Science to introduce renewable energy technologies at Armenia’s schools and increase awareness of schoolchildren on the benefits that renewable energy can offer. In the framework of the agreement an educational poster with a methodical guide for teachers was developed and published to be distributed to all secondary schools (1350) and vocational educational establishments/colleges (50) in the republic.
The Project also supported the Ministry of Education and Science in development and publication of curricula on “Principles of Ecology” for vocational education.

National Academy, National Institute of Education, Universities

Recognizing the importance of educational and awareness issues for implementation of the conventions, the Project established a platform for collaboration between MNP, Ministry of Education and Science, National Academy, National Institute of Education, universities and donor organizations by organizing surveys, discussions, and round tables.

Association for Sustainable Human Development and OSCE

Another room for cooperation was created in the frames of Decade for Sustainable Development. The regional seminar organized by the Association for Sustainable Human Development and supported by the NCSA project and OSCE was attended by specialists from Moscow, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia. The seminar was targeted on exchanging experience in the sphere of formal and informal education for Sustainable Development and drafting a plan of joint actions for the upcoming Decade of Education. The resolution of the workshop was developed and submitted to national authorities and the donor community.

NGO Coalitions and Networks

Considering the importance of the civil society strengthening, the NCSA project supported NGO coalitions and networks: CENN, “Protect Our Forests” coalition and other community supporting NGOs (“International Center for Human Development”, National Association of Condominium Owners and Community Financers Union.
